January 6, 1836

A Council convened at Kirtland, Ohio, January 6. 1836, for the purpose of filling the vacancies of the High Council of Zion.

Presidents D. Whitmer, J. Whitmer & W. W. Phelps and also a goodly number of high priests and Elders to the No. of 15, and one priest.

Address by Pres. W.W. Phelps, announcing the decease of Christian Counsellor Christian Whitmer who died on the 27th of November 1835.

Four Councilors had been chosen as Apostles and special witnesses, viz: Parley P. Pratt, Orson Pratt, Wm. E. Mc.lellin & Thomas B. Marsh. Proceeded and nominated instead of the above named councilors as follows:

Elisha H. Groves instead of

Jesse Hitchcock ,, ,,

George M. Hinkel ,, ,,

Elias Higbee ,, ,,

Peter Whitmer jr. ,, ,,

Parley P. Pratt,

W. E. Mclellin

Orson Pratt,

T.B. Marsh

Christian Whitmer, deceased.

Proceeded and ordained the above named Counsellors and solemnity rested upon the whole congregation, because the Lord was with us, and great blessings were expressed and confirmed upon the heads of the aforementioned Counsellors.
