Adams, James-was a justice of the peace in Sangamon County from 1823 until 1843 (Bateman, Newton, and Paul Shelby, eds. Historical Encyclopedia of Illinois [Chicago: Munsell, 1899], 10-11).

Boling, William H.-was a clerk of the county commissioner's court from 1838 to 1843 (Grantee Grantor Records 17:440-41; History of Pike County [Chicago: Chapman, 1880], 871).

Brown, Aury-as justice of the peace performed twenty-six marriages from 17 May 1839 to 11 Nov 1846 (Marriage records, Pike Co., IL).

Bush, Daniel B.-lived in Pike County from 1836-44 and was an active justice of the peace beginning in 1838 (Grantee Grantor Records, Pike Co., IL, 1836-45; Marriage records, Pike Co., IL).

Campbell, James Morrison-was appointed clerk of the circuit court by Governor John Reynolds in 1831. He also served as clerk of the county commissioners court (History of McDonough County Springfield: Continental, 1885, 277).

Clark, Jones-was a treasurer in Pike County from 1839-43 (History of Pike County [Chicago: Chapman, 1880], 872). He notarized the petitions as a clerk of the circuit court.

Comer, Samuel-acted as a justice of the peace during the years 1839 to 1843 (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, IL: Hancock County Courthouse, 1839-43).

Crawford, Thomas-was a justice of the peace in Hancock County during the early 1840s (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, IL: Hancock County Courthouse).

Douglas, Joseph-made nine land transactions in Adams County from 1837 to 1841 (Grantee Grantor Index 1, Adams Co., IL.) as a justice of the peace. He performed marriages from 8 Apr 1841 through 25 Aug 1842 (Marriage records vol. 1, Adams Co., IL: 1825-90).

Enlow, Amos-served as a justice of the peace in Adams County, IL, beginning in 1838 (Marriage records vol. 1, Adams Co., IL; Grantee Grantor Records 1840-42, 674).

Frye, William-lived in Calhoun County from 1825 until his death in 1854. He served as clerk of the county commissioner's court from 1829 until 1843 (Grantee Grantor Records, Calhoun Co., IL; see also County Commissioner's Record Books A and B).

Graves, James A.-lived in Morgan County, Illinois from 1831-46 and served as a justice of the peace during much of that time (Grantee Grantor Records; Marriage records, Morgan Co., IL).

Harlan, Levi-was the first clerk of the circuit court (Scott County Bicentennial Book [IL: Bluff & Winchester, 1976], 23).
