Titos

Titos {tee'-tos}
Greek: personal noun masculine

Possible Definitions:
1) Titus meaning "nurse" was one of Paul's most reliable helpers. He was a Greek Gal. 2:3. Paul called him "his son", Titus 1:4, "his brother", 2 Cor. 2:13, "his partner and fellowhelper", 2 Cor. 8:23. He went up with the apostles to Jerusalem (Gal. 2:1), was much conversant at Corinth, for which church he had earnest care, 2 Cor. 8:16. Paul's second epistle was sent to them by his hand, 2 Cor. 8:16-18.; 9:2-4; 12:18. He was with the apostle at Rome and then went to Dalmatia. 2 Ti. 4:10, after which no more occurs of him in the scriptures. Tradition states that he was bishop of Crete and died there at quite an old age. The modern capital, Candia, claims the honour of his burying place. In the fragment by the lawyer Zenas, Titus is called bishop of Gortyna. The name Titus was the watchword when the Cretians were invaded by the Venetians.
